What is Scalp Micropigmentation?

Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) is a non-surgical cosmetic procedure that involves the use of natural pigments to replicate the appearance of hair follicles on the scalp. This technique is applied at the dermal level, creating the illusion of a closely cropped hairstyle or a fuller head of hair. While SMP doesn’t promote actual hair growth, it provides the visual effect of density and can be a solution for individuals dealing with hair loss, receding hairlines, or thinning hair.

During an SMP procedure, an artist assesses the client’s scalp, considering factors such as hair growth direction, pigmentation, and overall scalp condition. Using a specialized three-point micro-needle, the artist meticulously applies pigment to the scalp, creating tiny impressions that resemble natural hair follicles in both size and direction. The goal is to achieve a realistic and natural-looking result.

SMP is known for its versatility, helping individuals with various degrees of hair loss, including those with complete baldness who desire the appearance of a closely shaved head. The procedure is typically considered a long-lasting solution, and the use of organic pigments aims to avoid the color changes associated with traditional tattoos. SMP is distinct from tattooing, as it typically does not penetrate beyond the second layer of the skin. For More Information Visit Now.

How Does it Work?

The SMP Artist will use a three point micro needle creating the smallest impressions of hair follicles ensuring this replicates the current hair follicle in size and direction. The Drip Company only use natural vegan friendly organic pigments, giving a longer lasting effect. The pigment will then be inserted by a micro needle into the epidermis layer of the skin. Unlike tattooing, SMP does not go further than the second layer of the skin and nor does the shade of the pigment change to a blue or green colour compared some tattoos.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Does the treatment hurt?

A popular question asked by many, unlike tattooing, micro-pigmentation does not exceed the epidermal (second) layer of skin, therefore causing less pain. This treatment is far less painful compared to other long- term hair loss solutions. Prior to your treatment, a patch test is indefinite, this can help determine any pain concerns client’s might have.

The sessions are spread apart between 7-10 days to ensure the scalp is healing correctly and for the scalp to rejuvenate each time, ensuring maximum results are achieved.

Can I change or redesign my look over time?

Yes, you can as long as it is not a drastic modification. Most males may want to freshen their look by a change in their hairline, or other clients who initially used SMP to camouflage certain areas might have now decided to opt for a naturally closed shaved look. Your practitioner will discuss this option as part of your consultation.

I am unsure of which hairline would look good on me?

During your consultation, your practitioner will go through the variety hairlines, based on your age and facial structure we can advise you accordingly. However, if there is a certain hairline that you do like, bring a photo along to your consultation to discuss this with the practitioner.

Can I remove all pigments from my scalp at a later stage?

Yes, you can. A single laser removal shot will instantly remove the SMP as it only goes as deep as your epidermal layer of the skin. This means SMP can easily be removed if applied correctly. Most clients will only need to make one trip to a laser removal clinic. Elixir Pigmentation London does not carry out the process but can provide details of reliable clinics.

Is the aftercare an extensive chore?

No. The aftercare is a simple upkeep to follow, just avoid sweating and direct sunlight for the first 4 days. Clients tend to go back to work on the following day after the treatment.
